The Connection bus Marketing initiative has gained to increasing support from local communities and now started a first project under development.
The initiative starts with an all operator bus map & Guide to Alexandra Hospital in Redditch. This document is to be supported by Redditch Community Forum and developed in association with Worcestershire County Council.
This will contain a list of bus series and frequency levels along with diagrammatic map which series the hospital. The completed leaflet will be distributed to selected location across Redditch Town which cover a population around 80,000 people.
The Connection Bus Marketing initiative is developed independently by me at a volunteer level aim to improve bus passenger confidence of a local bus network which face unstable bus services levels due to lack of printed integrated bus information and marketing. Over the past few years I been making several attempts to develop a transport marketing initiative for a worcestershire town. Since 2009 I have shared my ideas to several organsiations and businesses including First Midlands, Diamond Bus Company, Worcestershire County Council and Redditch Borough Council, along with local organsiations Bromsgrove and Redditch Network, Redditch Community Forum and Help the Aged.
Very recently the Department of Transport awarded Worcestershire County Council funding to improve transport provision in Redditch Town. As part of the funded project "Choose how you move" the Redditch Community forum would like to see my bus initiative idea be developed further with Worcestershire Council with consultation from the local communities.
In June 2011 a written document explaining why a marketing initiative needs to be developed along with detailed background and analysis. This was distributed to members of the Redditch Community Forum and Bromsgrove and Redditch Network. The Passenger Transport Group at Worcestershire County Council also received a copy of the same document. In addition I demonstrated examples of the information and and promotional material. It was very well received to level when it was strongly recommended of potential funding and community support.
In July a special document was developed, it is called Visions and contains visual examples of marketing and information ideas and how it could be developed further linked with type of materials and environments. This was presented to Redditch Community Forum meeting in August 2011.
The next step It's been confirmed that a focus group will be set up during autumn 2011 between myself and members of the Redditch Community Forum start up marketing and information materials starting at initial stage bus timetables which currently has no printed materials for local bus passengers, promotional materials as well as the local Hospital bus Map and Guide serving the town's Alexandra Hospital
In addition further meetings to be arranged between me members of the Redditch Community Forum and the Passenger Transport Group at Worcestershire County Council. Also being plan I will present a powerpoint style presentation the aim to convince more people to support this transport marketing initiative with potential funding and participation.
You will able to see example of the project shortly when the project is completed and will be displayed on the Visual Showcase pages of this website, watch this space for updates.
Further updates and developments of the Connection Bus Marketing Initiative will be updated here on this website
